I’m a proud San Francisco native and have lived all over the city, in particular in Noe Valley, the Mission, Potrero Hill, the Panhandle, North Beach, and now in Sausalito. I went to Alvarado, Nueva, Everett, Lowell, McAteer, and graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Geography.
There’s a reason the pioneers went west, and that California is called the Golden State. A passionate Californio, I’ve explored this beautiful place all my live, and while I know it intimately, I continue to discover new places here all the time.
I first discovered Brazil on a trip in 2008 and have been there perhaps ten times since then. Brazil is roughly similar to the U.S. in scale, population, and diversity of landscapes – and the most diverse country I’ve ever spent time in, with a warm, welcoming, curious, fun, active and vibrant culture. I love Brazil and now have many friends there, and I feel lucky to spend a month or more there most years.
Selling your business
I sold my conference business (AdMonsters) in early 2015. When I started down the road towards selling my business, I had absolutely no idea how to accomplish that goal. I spoke to many fellow entrepreneurs, advisors, investors, brokers, bankers, and potential acquirers, and I learned a lot along the way towards my successful sale. One year after closing the sale, my acquirer told me the following:
“You should give a course or speak about how an entrepreneur/owner can be an adviser to the buyer about revenue, content, personnel etc. while transitioning it all smoothly to the new owner. You have done it as well as I have seen in my career.”

I founded AdMonsters in 1999 and it grew to become the leading conference and professional community in online media operations and technology. We produced more than one hundred major conferences in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Singapore, and Brazil under the AdMonsters and OPS brands. Our conference were consistently recognized for their outstanding quality and value to both participants and sponsors. I sold the AdMonsters business to Access Intelligence in 2015, and it continues to thrive.

I have been working with software since the age of 10, and in online media since HotWired in 1996. I have a deep understanding of online media and the technology required to support media businesses. My interests and strengths in this area are:
